What is Homeopathy

Homeopathy is a method of treatment in which a patient with a certain set of complaints is prescribed a homeopathic remedy capable of causing symptoms in healthy people. The remedy stimulates the body's natural defense mechanisms, leading to healing. The cause of the disease is treated, not its consequences. Important is the individual in his entirety - physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. Everyone has their own unique way of reacting to the ailment they go through.

The foundations of homeopathy as a scientific system were laid out by the brilliant German physician and chemist Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann. He was born in Meissen, Saxony.

Our bodies are designed to survive in the best possible manner. Immune system always knows how to make the best choice in case of a progressive pathology. We think of the body as a whole because when one gets sick the overall energy is depleted. We never see a person with headaches running a marathon just because his legs are working perfectly fine, or someone with stomach ache feeling 100 percent at all other physical or mental levels. When the inner balance is disturbed the symptoms are shown in different parts of the body based on the energy of each part.

The law of cure is at the heart of the healing process in homeopathy. This is the way the body heals itself. In 1865, Konstantin Hering developed a concept and found that whenever a disease occurs, symptoms range from the body surface to the inside, from lower part to the upper body and from the less important to the more vital organs. After a single dose of the most similar homeopathic remedy the direction of healing changes to the opposite direction - the symptoms begin to pass from more vital organs to less vital one; from the inside to the outside; from top to bottom, and the symptoms disappear in the reverse order of their occurrence. We know this process as a "Law of cure" - the Hering’s law.

Homeopathic remedies should be as close as possible to the symptoms observed in the patient; the strength and dose of the drug must be consistent with the intensity and quality of the Vital Force. As the simillium resonates at all levels (physical, emotional, mental and spiritual) of the patient, the Vital Force moves the body to health.

Homeopathy looks at both the health and the illness as a dynamic process. Searching for and finding the factors that interrupt or provoke disturbance of the fine balance between health and illness and the cure in each particular patient with the carefully chosen remedy that will allow the organism to move from a "disease" process to "health" process is the basis of the healing homeopathic process.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there any scientific research on homeopathy?

An increasing number of scientific studies on homeopathic medicines are being conducted and published in peer-review journals. Clinical research is providing evidence of the efficacy of homeopathic medicines, and basic laboratory research is confirming the biological activity of highly diluted substances and helping the scientific community better understand their mechanism of action.

Do homeopathic medicines have any side effects?

All homeopathic remedies above 12C have a low risk of side effects. Basically after 12C there is not even one molecule from the starting substance- it is beyond the Avogadro number.

Do homeopathic medicines interact with other medications?

Homeopathic medicines above 12C have a low risk of side effects and no contraindications. They can be safely taken with other conventional medications and are sometimes recommended to complement other treatments.

Can I take a homeopathic medicine while I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, ask your health care professional before taking any medicine at all. You should consult with a Homeopath Practitioner before taking any homeopathic remedies as well. If your health care professional needs more information on our medicines, he/she can contact a Professional Homeopath.

I take my homeopathic medicine with or without food? How long before/after eating can I take the medicine? Do I need to avoid mint/coffee/alcohol/toothpaste while taking the medicine?

The most effective way to administer homeopathic remedies is to take them orally (under the tongue). For better absorption, the homeopathic remedies should be taken in a clean mouth, without strong aromas or food. It is recommended, to take the remedy 15 minutes before or after eating, drinking or brushing your teeth. Food debris would prevent the absorption of the drug from your body. However, there is no reason to interrupt food consumption or delay it because absorption occurs through the mucous membrane on the inside of the mouth and the food in the stomach has no effect.

Should I not touch homeopathic pellets/tablets with my fingers or hands?

It is not recommended touching the pellets/tablets with your fingers or hands. Introducing any moisture to the pellets/tablets will begin the dispensing of the medicine, and any oils on your skin may coat the pellets/tablets and hinder absorption once the medicine is in your mouth.

What is a homeopathic dilution?

A homeopathic medicine is obtained from a precise and controlled process of successive homeopathic dilutions. With each homeopathic dilution, the medicine is vigorously shaken (also called “succussion”). This process transforms the original solution into a therapeutically active medicine.

What is the difference in dilution levels?

Most single homeopathic medicines are available in several dilutions. The letter indicates which dilution process was chosen, while the number indicates how many times that dilution process was used, and consequently, which symptoms the medicine is meant to treat. Here’s a quick guide to using homeopathic medicines: Low dilutions, such as 6X or 6C, will relieve local symptoms—a symptom you can point a finger at (i.e., an insect bite or bruise). Medium dilutions, such as 12X, 9C or 12C, will relieve general symptoms—more than one symptom in more than one location (i.e., muscle aches and pains). High dilutions, such as 30X or 30C, will relieve general symptoms—more than one symptom in more than one location with possible behavioral or emotional symptoms (i.e., a very high fever and chills, accompanied by agitation or sleeplessness). If a person has the right medicine, no matter what the dilution, he will see a lessening of symptoms. For most medicines, choosing the right dilution is merely fine tuning

What is the typical dosage for a single medicine?

All the remedies should be taken in liquid dilutions. According to Organon of Homeopathic Medicine we have to stimulate the healing power with dynamically changed homeopathic remedies. The only way to dynamic a remedy is in liquid form.
